UptimeRobot
Freesbe takes down and up alerts from UptimeRobot. Once an admin connects it:
- Each monitor that goes down posts into the channel you pick as one card, with the monitor’s name, the address it checks and why it’s down, linked to the monitor in UptimeRobot.
- The same card turns green when the monitor is back up, with how long it was down and a reply under it for everyone following the thread. If it goes down again later, that’s a new card.
- A live problems board pinned in the channel lists every monitor down right now, and reports post on their own every morning or every Monday.
Alerts post as their own member, UptimeRobot, so their cards are easy to tell apart from people. UptimeRobot has no acknowledging, so its cards have no buttons.
Connect UptimeRobot
Section titled “Connect UptimeRobot”Only owners and admins can connect it. You need an UptimeRobot plan with webhook alert contacts.
- Open Workspace settings → Integrations & apps → Integrations → Monitoring and click Connect under UptimeRobot.
- Give the connection a name, like UptimeRobot, and pick the channel it posts to.
- Click Connect UptimeRobot. Freesbe shows the Freesbe URL and the Payload. Copy the URL now: it’s only shown once.
Then, in UptimeRobot:
- Open Integrations & API and add a Webhook.
- Paste the Freesbe URL in URL to notify, turn on Send as JSON, and paste the payload in POST value.
- Turn on notifications for both down and up, and add the webhook to the monitors that should post.
The payload is the same for every connection:
{ "monitorID": "*monitorID*", "name": "*monitorFriendlyName*", "url": "*monitorURL*", "alertType": "*alertType*", "details": "*alertDetails*", "duration": "*alertDuration*", "time": "*alertDateTime*"}What the card shows
Section titled “What the card shows”Every monitor that goes down is High (🔴). The card shows the monitor’s name, the address it
checks under Checking and UptimeRobot’s reason under Why (like Connection Timeout or
503 Service Unavailable). SSL expiry reminders post nothing.
The board and reports
Section titled “The board and reports”Like Zabbix, each connection pins a live problems board in its channel, listing the monitors down right now, with how long. Reports count the alerts Freesbe got over the last day or week: down now, total time down, the typical time to recover and the monitors that went down most. See The live problems board and Reports for more.
Questions
Section titled “Questions”Can different monitors go to different channels? Yes. Connect UptimeRobot once per channel, with a webhook for each, and add each webhook to the monitors that belong there.
Is the URL a secret? Yes: anyone with it can post alerts into the channel. If it leaks, delete the connection and connect again for a new URL.
Using Uptime Kuma too? See Uptime Kuma. Both can post to the same channel.
